Vacation to Egypt

Travel to Egypt culture and what to expect

Picture
Vacation to Egypt can be a country steeped in ancient background and fascinating culture.  With their intriguing archaeological riches, gorgeous and long-standing artistic traditions, and friendly, hospitable customs, Egypt is a fantastic spot to visit.  If you are planning a trip to Egypt, here is what you should expect at the culture and what to expect.
  • Religion
Religion in Egypt is everywhere, Muslim would be the dominant religion though there are numerous Christians, especially Coptic Christians, at the same time.  But religion and particularly Muslim tradition dominates the culture.  Expect most businesses to shut on Fridays, with the exception of Christian-owned companies, that could close on Sundays.  In addition, devout Muslims are to prayer 5 times daily.  If you might be traversing to a home or office during this time period, don’t be amazed if everyting stops as you move the prayer is completed.
  • Alcohol
Substantially doubt, ask.  The Muslim religion restricts its members from alcohol consumption. However, most Egyptians won’t mind if you drink, so long as it’s not overdone.  If you could have any doubt whether or not it’s appropriate to drinking alcohol in a few social situations, ask. You are allowed to make  approximately one litre of alcohol together with you through customs, and you may buy alcohol at duty-free shops and liquor stores in Egypt. You may have trouble ordering beer or wine in the Muslim-owned restaurant.
  • Baksheesh
Don’t tip professionals.  It’s considered highly inappropriate to tip professionals.  Unlike in Western countries, tipping in restaurants is often not expected though it is appreciated.  If you're taking a cab, don’t tip.  You often ought to negotiate your fare, plus the taxi driver will incorporate the top in the price with the ride.  Some will do an effective service to suit your needs and order baksheesh frequently specially in tourist-populated areas.  Be conscious of you usually do not need to tip in each and every situation, which is not absolutely considered a required section of social etiquette in Egypt.
  • Crime in Egypt
It’s rare, but be prudent.  Egyptian culture puts a great deal of focus on nuclear family.  Each person in the family is liable for the favorable standing of others as family, as well as a bad deed made by one member can shame a total family.  Crime in Egypt is rather rare because of this and a lot of travelers will advise you that this streets of Cairo are a lot easier safer compared to those in Western cities. However, it’s imperative
that you go ahead and take usual precautions avoid walking alone through deserted areas you are new to, maintain passport and travelers cheques protected, and so forth.  In touristy areas, be skeptical of pickpockets.
  • For women
Quite a bit less restricted as you’d think.  Although Egypt is technically a conservative Muslim society, many readers are surprised at diet plan Egyptian women they see in professional occupations.  Egyptian women be employed in business, government, law, medicine, degree, and a lot of other professions.  Some may wear veils and head coverings, however some usually do not. Foreign women are certainly not generally restricted in Egypt. However, the cultural dress code in Egypt is a bit more conservative than within the West, for both males and females.  Even though it’s hot, female tourists are usually inspired to wear loose-fitting clothing, long skirts or pants, and shirts which cover the shoulders no tank tops to prevent unwanted attention from men.  Women visiting Egypt may encounter some segregation in their travels.  Buses, for instance, usually seat women right in front and men inside back. Trains usually have the first car restricted to women also. Crime is rare in Egypt, but women need to be more careful than men specially when traveling alone in rural areas.  Almost daily, women alone are perfectly safe in Egypt.  But as with other areas worldwide, practical precautions must be taken.
  • For men
Don’t let casual intimacy surprise you.  Egyptian men kiss other men within the cheek.  Many Western guys are disconcerted at this, but it is really a customary friendly greeting in Egypt.  In general, Egyptians are close talkers and don’t require lots of personal space when a lot more important others. Men visiting Egypt has to be especially careful when getting together with Egyptian women. In traditional families, it’s considered unseemly for women and men who will not be relevant to speak.  Even in professional situations, it can be considered to make eye contact with females.  If you're asking an Egyptian person about family, avoid asking in a lot of detail about female relatives.  You could be attempting to make friendly conversation, but a conservative Egyptian may interpret questions as inappropriate interest.

Egypt is a land full of cultural tradition, art and architecture, ancient history and modern hospitality.  Its cultural traditions can be challenging for many travelers to know, but do your very best self to allow for local custom.  Be flexible and open-minded.
