- Xai Xai: (pronounced "Shy Shy")
This bustling town alongside the Limpopo River may be the capital of Gaza Province and situated 200km (124 miles) north of Maputo. Xai Xai is a huge long standing holiday destination over a long time and has most amenities including markets, shops, restaurants, bars, petrol stations banks along with a post office. The main beach is all about 15 minutes drive from your town and forms a good sweep of sand with safe swimming.

The coastline between Xai Xai and Inharrime in Mozambique can be quite picturesque with stunning fresh and salt water lakes on the way. Most lodges in this field require a 4x4 vehicle for access but a majority of are easily reached in the main highway EN1. Lovely white sandy beaches may be found across the lagoons. Lake Inhambavale is fantastic for watersports. Only basic supplies might be found in this Mozambique area, like fresh bread and limited vegetables and fruit.

Other attractions in Chidenguele are the Boa Paz Lighthouse (over a walking route or perhaps a 4x4 track); the earlier Cathedral inside village accessed by sealed road; a shipwreck for the beach near Kings Pools plus the little village of Quissico. Quissico in Mozambique has fabulous views on the lakes which is famous due to the music and dancing Timbila Festival at the conclusion of June every year.
