Why go El Salvador? Nobody would go to vacation in El Salvador. That’s just what a family member said when she found we were intending to visit El Salvador, the actual country in Central America. It’s not your usual tourist destination, not necessarily with kids, but that it was well worth a look. Why Visit El Salvador?
Our vacation to El Salvador came accidentally, we merely needed an affordable, easy flight beyond Florida following a long USA trip. Our visa was out and that we needed to leave, Salvadorean history at San Salvador’s Museum National, this place is worthwhile a visit. The flights outside of Florida after our USA excursion were the most cost effective we could find when we searched for bargains and inspiration on Skyscanner. It was listed as $62 each on Spirit Airlines. Taxes and baggage fees bumped up to $100 each, yet still, it’s the best value. It got us into Central America, a space which ’weve never had the chance to search or explore. A new country is obviously a good idea particularly the one that pushes your boundaries a bit.
Is El Salvador Safe to Visit?

The crime rate in El Salvador is leaner than that in a number of US cities knowning that crime is usually limited to gang members and drug production. The civil war ended over 2 decades ago and El Salvador is wanting to turn things around and produce a tourist industry. Some articles from The Guardian recommending El Salvador as being a good place to go to, in order that it must be OK.
There are a wide range of surfers who come here, too, this coast was featured inside movie Big Wednesday. In San Salvador, there are guards with guns were everywhere from the city there are a wide range of high walls and razor wire, but our warm family guest house became a pleasure to stay in. You may require help with Spanish, therefore the Lonely Planet’s language section is usually the best friend. Few countries have language barriers nowadays, Central America is surely an exception.
Why Visit El Salvador?

·El Salvador have their own Mayan pyramid at Tazumal that has a tiny admission fee in comparison to the big appeals to Guatemala.
·It has volcanoes and crater lakes, treks and wildlife encounters.
·It has Central America’s response to Pompei. Ceren, an urban area buried in volcanic ash for 1400 years.
·Surfing is large news and also the beaches are beautiful. El Salvador has great breaks.
·There are a few beautiful buildings and churches.
·El Salvador has interesting food, culture and individuals.
·The Museum National of anthropology in San Salvador has some spectacular Mayan displays.
·El Salvador is just not stuffed brimming with tourists. There are no tourist traps or ( inside our experience) people waiting to rip you off. We have met some wonderful warm and happy people even as try to bumble our way around in this non-existent Spanish. Even the taxi drivers did their best that can help us out.
Costs of Travelling in El Salvador
Great, cheap street food in El Salvador and hotels were fairly affordable too. It’s not Asia cheap, nevertheless it’s OK. Prices are great. A lounge with breakfast cost us under $50 in San Salvador. As with all of Central and South America, it’s not cheap, if you need cheap check out Asia and Eastern Europe, but El Salvador is nowhere close to as expensive as some South American countries. Street food costs next to nothing, some money a head maybe plus the supermarkets are cheap and very good. To be honest they a few of the most effective supermarkets I’ve experienced in terms of variety, price and quality of produce. A beer costs around $1.50. Buses are cheap, 25c vacation around San Salvador. Taxis are reasonable, $30 from airport to San Salvador in order to the coast, $4-5 around town Admission prices seem fixed at $3. A great deal for Central America. Street food in down-town San Salvador. Don’t miss the pupusas con queso, a family group favourite, to traveling in El Salvador. English isn’t widely spoken so that you will most likely need to obtain a phrase book if, that you are totally inept at Spanish. A good guide-book will allow you to out too, we didn’t have one and it’s taken us era of online research to work through where we need to look and what you should see, there is little change tourist support available around the ground here or online.
Food and Street Food in El Salvador
Pupusas, probably the most ubiquitous Salvadorean street food, might be vegetarian with cheese or beans or filled up with pork. Great for hungry kids. The food in El Salvador is much like that in Guatemala along with parts of Central America, pupusas, tamale, beans, fried bananas plus much more. Pupusas are probably one of the most uniquitous street food and they may be ultra child friendly. These little pockets of hot bubbling cheese ( or they're able to contain meat or beans) fed us well.
Hostel in San Salvador
There are amazing home-made Salvadoren breakfasts at Hostel Dona Marta in San Salvador, it is perfectly safe. Stay at Hostal Donna Marta it is recommend for travellers in El Salvador. There are a sizable family room with 4 beds within a quiet residential area. The bathroom may be shared but right outside door and nobody seemed to utilize it. Breakfasts are delicious, local and home-cooked and host with his fantastic family couldn’t have already been any nicer or higher helpful. An en suite room had also been available. Taxis from the airport to Hostal Dona Marta, arranged through the owner, everything went smoothly so we had a great stay. The main road and bus routes undoubtedly are a short walk in the hotel or taxis are fantastic value.
