It’s always worth packing a correct towel. Hostel towels are scummy and take a long time to dry. Microfibre towels dry quickly, are compact, lightweight and will be used as a blanket or yoga mat if required.
Even if you only wind up using it once, a considerable head torch could beneficial life. If you want to explore caves, unlit temples or simply just find your way for the bathroom in a blackout, a headtorch is critical.
Taking a tent backpacking may not be practical but hammocks are lightweight, cheap, strong, sexy (chicks dig hammocks) and enable you to pitch up for your night just about anywhere.
